Baoding No.17 Middle School was founded in 1906 (the 32nd year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty) and was originally called the "Zhili Girls' School".
The school has a glorious revolutionary tradition and was the scene of the "Expulsion of the Yan School Wave" which shook the whole country in the 1920s; Li Peizhi, the wife of Comrade Wang Ruofei, Zhang Xiyuan, the first wife of Comrade Deng Xiaoping, and Tian Xiujuan, the wife of General Sun Yi, all attended the school.
The school was named "Baoding No. 17 High School" in 1978, and in 1997 it was branded as "Hebei No. 2 Foreign Language High School". The school was renamed the Hebei Baoding Foreign Language School in 2002, in accordance with a document from the Hebei Provincial Education Department. (In 2021, Hebei Baoding Foreign Language School joined the Baoding No. 17 Secondary School Education Group and is managed by the Group's Headmaster.
