Let the school uniform carry the spirit of a prestigious school

The Rite of Passing on the History of the School
《The Zuo Zhuan》 - Ten Years of the Duke of Ding (Zuo Zhuan - Ten Years of the Duke of Ding) states: "China is called Xia because of the greatness of its manners; it is called Hua because of the beauty of its chapters and clothes. Without the beauty of dress and the importance of etiquette, it is difficult to call China Xia. Since ancient times, China has focused on the etiquette and culture of dress, and historically, China has also had distinctive student dress.
Over a hundred years ago, thousands of students in student dress took to the streets to oppose the then Chinese government's signing of the Paris Peace Treaty, sparking the May Fourth New Culture Movement. These student outfits are also engraved in the depths of history along with the figures of young students, painting a distinctive, youthful and glorious image. Today, those student outfits are so dignified and beautiful; those students are so heroic and heroic.
In those days, the uniformed student attire represented a new fashion, moreover, it was imbued with a new culture. The old culture of "five classes of people and five colours of clothing" faded from the stage of history, and the idea of equality for all became apparent. With these students in uniform, the new school, the new campus, also acquired a new symbolic symbol and became a new and important cultural force by sending new people into society. The student uniforms that were gradually displayed in the new school a hundred years ago, along with images of young Lu Xun, Feng Zikai and Li Shutong, became a cultural icon of the era and a symbol of nostalgia.
Those moments in history when young figures in student uniforms flashed, breathed life and vitality into the otherwise lifeless student uniforms.
Today, more educators are recognising that the school uniform, which accompanies children every day, is not only a uniform management tool, but also an important vehicle for daily education: a subtle way of developing children's collective consciousness, aesthetic skills, personal integrity and dress etiquette.

Beijing No.4 Middle School: Carrying the spirit and history of a famous school in school uniform
In 2010, one Chinese school led the way in today's school uniform culture: Beijing No. 4 High School, a legendary secondary school founded in 1907 and initially known as Shuntian Middle School and renamed in 1949. This school, with a history of more than 100 years, has produced more than 30,000 outstanding graduates in politics, business, academia and culture for the country, and in recent years around 98%-99% of its graduates have been admitted to key universities. Behind the honour is the continuity and legacy of the spirit of the Fourth Form. In 2010, when the new school uniforms were officially put on the students of Beijing No.4 Middle School, it caused a huge reaction among the school and the community. Countless media outlets reported on it, "cow school uniforms", "beautiful school uniforms", "fashionable school uniforms", "a full range of school uniforms " were incessantly exclaimed. To this day, the Beijing Four High School uniform remains a model for school uniforms in China (see Figure 2).

"He who seeks the growth of a tree must strengthen its foundation, and he who wishes to flow far away must dredge its spring". Like that old school gate that has remained, Beijing No.4 Middle School attaches great importance to the inheritance of school culture (see Figure 1). Behind the high promotion rate is a high regard for and cultivation of the human heart and the spiritual world. As an important part of the school culture, the school uniform of BSS4 shows not only the image of BSS4, but also carries the spirit and history of the famous school of BSS4. In an article, Liu Changming, the headmaster of Sizhong, talks about: "What does Beijing Sizhong cultivate? What it cultivates is a spiritual aristocracy. This aristocratic spirit is not the possession of wealth or enjoyment of status, but the connotation of having a spirit of fraternity, compassion and responsibility." The cultivation of this spirit requires the students of BSS to always remember their identity as BSS students, to learn to respect themselves and others, and to use this exclusive BSS uniform to express, remember and transmit this noble spirit.

  School badge
The school emblem is the condensation and soul of the campus spirit. The ribbon in the middle is a symbol of the noble qualities of the school and represents the sense of honour and mission of the people of the school. The four stars represent the educational ideals of Sichong, looking up to the stars, and symbolise the school motto of "diligence, rigour, democracy and pioneering". The central part: this is the original school emblem, reflecting respect for history. The petals of the plum blossom symbolise the school's spirit of "not being superior, not being bookish, not being foreign, not being numerous".

Design
The famous writer Zhou Guoping once gave a lecture at the Fourth Form, saying that secondary education should be the most romantic education in life. It is at this stage that young people perceive the breadth of the world, experience the beauty of life and make the best memories of their growth. In terms of colour, the school uniform is mainly made of stable and elegant navy blue jacket, white shirt and grey trousers, complemented by the classic red school badge and bow tie in the same colour; in terms of style, it is more flattering and slim, youthful and fashionable, showing the vitality and spirit of young people; in terms of quality, it is made of environmentally friendly and healthy materials, with meticulous production processes; in terms of function, it not only meets the students' In terms of function, it not only meets the students' study life in school, but also takes into account the dress code for different occasions and external communication. Each student in the school uniform will have the best youth and show their happiness and pride.

Etiquette

At the time, the Evening Standard said: "For the new students entering Beijing No.4 Middle School this term, the school uniform is no longer 'uniform', but can be freely chosen and purchased from a list of 16 items. The list of sixteen items of clothing includes everything from tweed coats and down coats to bow ties and socks. Many students were proud to wear their formal school uniforms and called themselves "cow school uniforms." At the time, it was rare for a school to have so many styles of school uniform, and this came from a consensus between Beijing No.4 Middle School and the school uniform supplier: the cultural etiquette of school uniforms that emphasised different dress codes for different occasions. He, then a teacher in the political science teaching and research team at BSS4, said, "Our students will one day have to go out into society, and personal etiquette and temperament is a very crucial point. The school hopes to consciously develop their manners and etiquette while they are still young."
